Why is GOOD copywriting important for spiritual entrepreneurs?
It’s no secret that I’m a bit "woo" (although I'm not a huge fan of that phrase).
I have my fair share of crystals, and there’s nothing I love more than being outside with the spirits of nature.
I’m also a business owner, so I’ve noticed how business and spirituality are becoming more intertwined.
No wonder there’s a growing demand for copywriters who understand the unique language of the mystical and magical.
Business owners who are a bit woo (or very woo) need copy that speaks authentically to a woo audience.
And it’s more than just persuasive words!
It's about weaving stories, connecting energies, and channelling the essence of what makes spiritual professionals truly special.
But what does that even mean?
In this blog post, I'll break down the art of copywriting for coaches, creatives, and service providers in the magical world of crystals, astrology, tarot, and other metaphysical practices...
Showing you how to write copy for spiritual businesses.
Because it’s not one-size-fits-all—copywriting never is—but there are some things to keep in mind that ensure your copy stands out in the wide world of magical entrepreneurs.
How to write copy for spiritual businesses...
💫 Understand the soul of your business
Grammar and marketing know-how are great, but writing for a mystical, magical, or spiritual business means understanding the deeper soul of the product.
Because it’s more than just sales, isn’t it?
You’re offering a transformational experience—one that often touches your clients on an emotional and spiritual level.
That makes you more than an entrepreneur.
You’re a guide, an advisor and a healer.
So, how do you tap into that magic to show the actual essence of your work?
You’ll have to speak to the logical and emotional sides of your potential clients.
Show them the transformation more than you show them the product itself.
This is where painting a picture of your client’s future comes in handy.
Focus on explaining the outcomes—the shifts that they’ll experience as a result of working with you rather than the nuts and bolts of what working with you looks like.
💫 Know the unique challenges of writing in a spiritual niche
Unlike more traditional businesses, magical and spiritual professionals often deal with abstract concepts like energy, intuition, and transformation.
Communicating these ideas in a way that is clear and compelling—while still honouring their depth and mystery—requires a delicate balance.
Here’s what those challenges look like:
Abstract concepts: balance explaining the practical parts of your work with the spiritual depth. This goes back to focusing on transformation and change. Show them the ultimate vision.
Authentic language: there are a lot of spiritual business owners out there, and the language is becoming a bit….stale. To avoid boredom setting in with your clients, talk about the value of your services without using phrases like ‘quantum leap’ or ‘heart-centred’, because they don’t actually mean much. They don’t bring value to your offer, and every word counts in sales copy. Also, keep ‘manifestation’ to a minimum. It’s a bit overused these days.
Niche audience: this is one thing that’s great about writing for a spiritual audience. A lot of the language in the mystical space might be weird or confusing to outsiders, but trust your readers and clients to understand what you’re saying. Terms like ‘shadow work’ or ‘transit’ or ‘chakra’ are fair game…so keep ‘em coming! When you trust your audience like this, you actually bring in better clients. Because let’s face it: if they don’t understand these concepts, they’re not right for you anyway.
While writing for a spiritual, magical, or mystical business, my best piece of advice is to not overthink it.
Keep things simple, and trust your own intuition to get it right.
Try writing a first draft as quickly as possible. Just let it out. You’ll be surprised what comes out.
💫 Embrace storytelling in your sales copy
Potential clients who are looking for spiritual or magical help tend to be a bit more in touch with their emotions than other groups of people.
They’re looking for connection because they’re not really here for your product…
…they’re going to buy from you because of the connection they have to YOU.
That means that one of the best ways to think about your copy is to think about how you’re telling your story.
Try adding in some of the imagery and symbolism you work with. Things like:
Archetypes
Myths
Cycles
Colours
Numbers
Gods and goddesses
Metaphors
When you weave these elements together and show how working with you is like entering into a grand story, you’ll have clients hooked.
Because we’re all the main characters in our own stories, and we want to know the greater vision of what our path looks like…and what it could look like.
But remember: it’s important to strike a balance between mysticism and clarity.
Your words need to inspire and uplift, but also clearly communicate the benefits and tangible outcomes of the services being offered.
💫 How to write copy for specific mystical offerings
Now let’s look at specific examples of how to craft copy for different types of professionals in the magical and spiritual space.
Spiritual coaches: since you guide clients through long-term and massive spiritual transformation and shifts, you’ll need to keep your copy empowering. Make your reader believe that anything is possible with the right guidance.
Example: ‘Are you ready to release your fears and become your highest self? Release your fears and doubts so that you come back into the life that your soul craves. With intuitive coaching sessions, you’ll experience powerful breakthroughs and step into the best version of you.’
Magical creatives: if you’re making custom astrology art, creating crystal jewellery, or designing tarot decks, you’ll need to infuse a physical product with spiritual meaning. Focus on the emotional connection between your product and the buyer. Show them how building a relationship with your art will impact their lives.
Example: ‘Your birthchart is more than a map of the stars. It’s a reflection of your soul’s journey. Our custom astrology art pieces blend cosmic wisdom with breathtaking visuals, creating a masterpiece that exudes your unique energy. Hang it in a space where you practise your own magical crafts or use meditation for your spiritual growth.’
Healers and energy workers: you need copy that emphasises the mysterious nature of your transformative work. You’re connecting with your client on an energetic level, so offer comfort and reassurance.
Example: ‘If you’re feeling out of alignment or stuck in negative patterns, it’s time to get connected with your higher self. With personalised healing sessions, we’ll work to cleanse and balance your energy, clearing blocks that keep you from living in flow.’
Tarot readers and astrologers: as an advisor, your copy should revolve around clarity and insight. People come to you when they’re anxious and want answers, so explain how working with you can put them on the right path or give clarity to help calm their nerves.
Example: ‘Life can feel uncertain sometimes, but the wisdom on the cards offers a way through. During your personal reading, we’ll explore the energies surrounding your current situation, which will provide clarity, insight, and guidance for your next steps.’
💫 How to make authentic sales
One of the most powerful (and difficult) elements of writing for spiritual professionals is balancing authenticity with the need to drive sales.
Unlike traditional businesses, many magical and spiritual entrepreneurs are deeply focused on helping people, rather than selling products or services.
But, in order to continue doing their work, they need clients who are ready to invest in themselves.
Your copy should feel inviting and genuine, not like a hard sell.
It’s about presenting the service as an opportunity for the potential client to transform their life, while also honouring the energy exchange involved.
Let them know that you’re a judgment-free zone.
They can come as they are.
They can share with you and get vulnerable.
You’re offering real magic…because you and your clients are pretty woo, aren’t you?
Embrace it. Don’t hide from it.
And if you’re finding it a bit difficult to balance spiritual and business language, I have you covered.
I’m a bit woo and a bit business-y.
And words are how I create magic.
