It’s constantly in my news feed and my emails.
Copywriters, business owners and entrepreneurs seem to be obsessed with discussing this red-hot topic… is A.I. the end of copywriting and the future for online businesses?
Whilst there are many reasons why A.I. can be helpful to entrepreneurs in the online space, there are 3 gigantic reasons why it WON’T!!
Read on and ill tell you why.
Ok, I’ll always be honest with you. A.I. is pretty damn impressive…
There is no doubt that as A.I. technology continues to evolve, it will change the way we think and how we can communicate.
I’ve always shared A.I. tools with my students and community that will help
them write and proofread their work, making life a little easier.
Grammarly - helps improve your writing by providing suggestions for grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, and tone. It also provides feedback on writing clarity, readability, and engagement.
Answer the Public - a keyword tool that visualises search questions and suggested autocomplete searches, helping you with SEO and content strategy.
Headline Studio - helps you analyse and tweak your headlines for improved SEO and increasing organic traffic and engagement.
And whilst I can see how tools such as ChatGPT and Jasper help create ideas and get you over writer's block (which I know first-hand is a massive pain in the bum) they don’t provide entrepreneurs with the KEY ingredient…
The secret behind great copywriting is empathy.
A great copywriter can relate and resonate with your target client/customer in a way that A.I. simply cannot replicate. And this connection is the key to getting sales conversions.
Here are 3 reasons why a brand copywriter (or developing your own skills at copywriting) will help you grow your business and increase your revenue in a way that A.I. can’t.
1. No Brand
As an online business owner or entrepreneur, your brand is everything.
It’s the thing that makes you stand up and stand out in a crowded market.
It encompasses your meaning and purpose, defines your mission statement, shares your story and values and does it all with a clear, consistent, STRONG message
through your brand voice.
A.I. physically cannot replicate that.
So while A.I. is a shortcut for creating mediocre content…
It is NOT a shortcut for building a brand that people trust.
As long as it’s HUMANS on the receiving side of our marketing - empathy, integrity and trust will still matter MOST when trying to convince people to take action or hand over their money.
2. No Content Strategy
The best and most successful businesses have a strong business strategy, which includes a solid content strategy.
Content marketing is 60% cheaper than other marketing methods - if done correctly.
Whilst businesses might employ social media marketers and content writers - they don’t have the same impact as a copywriter. The psychology behind buying and feeding into the brand I mentioned above, creates consistent, high-quality and relevant content for your audience that emotionally connects and resonates with them.
A.I. basically steals and cheats in the content game!!
It simply finds and regurgitates other content that it sources on the internet… including other content produced by A.I.
The more businesses rely on A.I. alone, the more they will start to sound like each other, and customers won’t give a flying fu*k what they have to say because they won’t see it as genuine or authentic.
So, whilst it can help as a starting point, you don’t want to use it to write your content… unless you want to be known as a boring brand!
3. It loses sales
The writing and messaging you use for your business have a direct impact on the sales you get and how much your income grows.
Copywriting on a funnel, for example, can make or break your conversion rate. Whilst it might help with some content-generating ideas, it can’t help you with actual sales.
A.I. can’t write an effective sales page or long-form article.
A.I. can’t create or audit a comprehensive marketing strategy.
A.I. can’t write visitor friendly/flowing web content that connects with the reader whilst tapping into your brand voice.
When it comes to marketing, the smartest businesses are NOT relying on A.I. alone.
They understand the power of really great copy.
See, brand copywriters aren’t just writers...
They're strategic thinkers
They're great marketers
They're powerful communicators
They're empathetic emotion-generating machines
And it’s those skills and qualities that CONNECTS and CONVERTS.
